Here is a gate I enjoyed drawing in Point Loma, San Diego not too far from the University my daughter went to. This area is very pretty. I like coming here to draw

This was done with the San Diego Sketchcrawl. We went to the Mingei Museum in Balboa Park. They had very attractive pieces from different countries. These little birds caught my attention.

Well here's another sketch done with the SD Sketchcrawlers but this time the story is a bit different.

6 of us decided to go to the Self Realization Fellowship here in Carlsbad. They have a lovely garden that is used for meditations.

Well we sketched quietly amongst many families with children talking loud and taking pictures.

When finished we have a sharing time to show our work with our sack lunches. We asked if we could do that in the driveway as to not disturbed the visitors in the garden. NO, we were told.

OK.... outside on the street we went past the sidewalk (public )and ate. Well a few minutes later the guard came out and asked us to leave from there too.

The garden was lovely but.............. we are now signing our e-mail post to the group

" GODZILLA "

This is a sketch done with the local SketchCrawlers of San Diego at the " La Jolla Cove ".

It's really a beautiful place. Gosh, I'm so thankful to live here !

Now you ask why am I calling it Godzilla !!!

Well there is this seagull I wanted to draw on top of the light but it did not workout that way. So as you can notice it turn into a Godzilla and before I make it worse I thought I would leave it alone as a funny anecdote.

So if you look closely there is a dinosaur on the street lamp. ha ! ha ! = )

" The Fountain "

This is the 2 sketch I did of the Alcazar Garden at Balboa Park but forgot to post it.

Grace ( my chocolate lab ) was with me on that day and at the end of the sketch time I had to let her drink in the fountain but after she did she got in and lay down in the water .

She just loves water !

This was the sketch done with the San Diego sketchcrawlers during the week which is a different set of peoples sometimes. One in particular Lydia Velarde has a wonderful talent. She made this fabulous little video already posted on U-Tube of our little outing with music, title and credits. Just really NICE. It even has Grace as a starring role.

Sea Port Village is the spot we met this time.

When we first arrived we were a this Coffee house waiting for everyone, so I drew Jane here while she sketched. We then moved around. I had Grace (my chocolate lab) with me which is always fun because she invariably end up in some body of water at one point or other. Check out the VIDEO on the next post.

This one was around the corner. This place is very attractive and very touristy, so you get lot's of comment while you draw.

This is the sketch for the get together of our local San Diego sketchcrawlers. A nice amount came (14) and it was fun getting to know each other more and having lunch together.We were at a lovely place called Summer Past Farms. My neighbor has a lovely patch of Irises all in bloom and I've been dying to draw them.

This house is in Point Loma  San Diego and every time I drive by I've been wanting to draw it and in particular this tree it is in bloom now covered with little white flowers .

Just beautiful. So I stopped and took the time.

The Lemonade Award

I received  " The Lemonade Award " for a positive attitude and gratitude ,

from Joan Sicignano who is a fabulous watercolorist.

This award today is not what I deserve because my attitude today  stink's. I am definitively not in a positive attitude and isn't it strange this is the day you get something like this.

It's telling me stop whining ! and be happy, isn't there a movie or something with this phrase, anyway.

So with this in mind I am doing it....OMG somebody kick me please !

Gosh sometimes it's so hard to pull yourself out of these yuk moments !

I'm going to stop focusing on me and look at a few people much more deserving.

Tiffany and I went to the Portobello Market and the doors on this street are so beautiful. This one had a lovely tree budding in the same color family as the door. Everyone was taking pictures of it.

                              These 2 were so wonderful to look at up in their tree I had to draw them. I just found out the name of this tree is a Crabapple,  such a nice name .

" ABOUNDING IN LOVE "

I have a dear friend last night that gave me some encouraging words and this morning I was on facebook and received a PRAISE STICKER from her which were flowers with a caption and the scripture location. SO I wanted to reciprocate.

I looked up the flowers and what they represent. Well the one I choose was a big Yellow/ Cream rose and It said  ABOUNDING IN LOVE,   I choose that flower but after closer inspection the caption underneath read,   Joel 2:13   and realized this day is     2 - 13

How cool is that.

SO I want to pass it along to all................Receive.

I wanted to start a blog with only sketches and such so after the comment of a fellow artist on one of my drawing on art by dominique the name "Dancing Strokes" was started. I'm going to try to stretch myself here and just draw as much as I can.

        Since Valentine is around the corner  I decided to start my first post with this drawing.
