Plein air sketch done in Balboa Park,

This sketch was accepted as part of a display for the contemporary exhibition throughout the San Diego International Airport terminal 2 to celebrate the centennial of our famous Balboa Park.

It is located on the ground floor of terminal 2 next to the international arrival gate. 

I hope you will have a chance to go see it !

This drawing was done on location in Balboa Park San Diego. It is such a lovely park to visit. There is so much to see there. Seeing a performance here is so wonderful. In the summer they rent these big umbrellas for $ 2 so the sun won't beat on your head while you enjoy the show, this is why they are all the same !
This piece with others is featured at the San Diego International Airport, Terminal 2 next to the international arrival gate, ground floor before the TSA security so anyone can visit.

This is the last one I did for my daughters bridal shower. I enjoyed drawing these. Our trip to Europe and especially Paris was so nice. I recommend anyone to go at least once in their life.

" PIP "

I encountered this lovely and so sweet pup called "PIP" as I was coming out of an art store. I could not help myself and said I would love to draw him. Well a few weeks later I got a call from his Mommy !

When I went to deliver my drawing someone in the street called out to him and said "Hi PiP" .... his owner did not even know them. I can understand the attraction from everyone. He seem to be  FAMOUS in these part.

A while back I was part of a big costume party here in San Diego where I had the privilege to paint at. There where quite a few performers and the decor was so beautiful. I wished I would of had more time to do a few more pieces but was glad I got at least these in.

" COME UNTO ME "

This piece was done as a fundraiser for a recovery facility called "Set Free"

Families would stay there until able to be on their own. I decided to draw a couple of the children  watching the Koi fish in a little pond they have.

One of the things I like to do is add color but only sparingly to add a focus impact to the picture.

But I wasn't sure which way I wanted to go. So I decided to make copies of the drawing on watercolor paper and try a few different ways.

I decided to have the one with the pond in color framed for the event.

In Vermont I always see so many things I want to draw.
This is at my nephew Gregory's house. Their clothes line. Megan his wife is so sweet and hospitable and their children are both fabulous. It's such a pleasure to go visit every one there. The time goes by too fast unfortunately.
She share with me that she could very well put all those clothes in the dryer but she forces herself to put them on the line outside when she can. Why you ask ?
Her life is very busy so it gives her a chance to slow down, it is a chore you cannot do fast. I thought it was such a wise action I had to make a sketch of it !

This was done at Andy lovely backyard during our San Diego Sketchcrawl. This tree was so nice to draw. I like it when something stands out to me that say's " Draw Me ".

My chocolate lab is often in this position waiting for me to go somewhere. She loves to ride in the car.
But this time I had to draw her. She is the sweetest dog ever.

Balboa Park

In Balboa Park at the moment there are so many trees in bloom, it's really pretty.  They have these clusters of small white flowers ( don't know what kind of tree they are) and when the wind blows gently many petals fall in slow cascading effect. It looks like a magic carpet fit for a wedding.  It is so lovely to be there at this time.

This is the first drawing I did today with the San Diego sketch crawlers. This was inside Nancy's office with a lovely view of her garden yet I wanted to focus on this little beauty.

This one is inside the courtyard looking toward this lovely guest house where the pool is. We had a big group today. We battled hot and cold weather through out the morning. I felt I was having hot flashes !!

OLD TOWN

Yikes I miss calculated the top of this bell tower it is not in my picture. I really dislike it when that happens.  Maybe I'll make another one of this one day. This was done with the weekend Sketchcrawlers.
This is in the Old Town of San Diego " la casa estudillo " It's a beautiful place especially inside with a lovely courtyard but I had Grace ( my dog) with me so I was not allowed in   :(
It's a good thing because a member of our group was late and only found us because I was sitting outside drawing while everyone was inside that courtyard.

This is across from the other building and it had this delightful yellow cream colors on the facade.
It was a nice time with every one but we escape the rain, it started as soon as we left.

After I left the group of sketchcrawlers I walked in this garden store that was filled with fabulous pieces. This is a large old seed cabinet with on the front of each drawers a picture of what is inside.

This is the 2 sketch I did of the Alcazar Garden at Balboa Park but forgot to post it.

Grace ( my chocolate lab ) was with me on that day and at the end of the sketch time I had to let her drink in the fountain but after she did she got in and lay down in the water .

She just loves water !

This is the sketch for the get together of our local San Diego sketchcrawlers. A nice amount came (14) and it was fun getting to know each other more and having lunch together.We were at a lovely place called Summer Past Farms. If your ever in that area go check it out it is worth the stop. More sketches will be coming from there !
