" MEGAN's WASH "

8  x 11  Pen, Ink & a little Watercolor

In Vermont I always see so many things I want to draw.
This is at my nephew Gregory's house. Their clothes line. Megan his wife is so sweet and hospitable and their children are both fabulous. It's such a pleasure to go visit every one there. The time goes by too fast unfortunately.
She share with me that she could very well put all those clothes in the dryer but she forces herself to put them on the line outside when she can. Why you ask ?
Her life is very busy so it gives her a chance to slow down, it is a chore you cannot do fast. I thought it was such a wise action I had to make a sketch of it !

  1. I love this! I too hang my wash out to dry. I must have the only clothes line in socal! I agree, it is my quiet alone time when I'm hanging clothes and when i take them down and fold them before they go in the laundry basket. Beautiful technique Dominique!

  3. Beautiful drawing Dominique! I always loved hanging my wash...something about being out in the fresh air and the clothes smelling so fresh when you take them down.

  4. I miss having a clothes line and would still be hanging our bedding out each washday if I could! I enlarged your drawing to the largest size so I could better enjoy your "dancing strokes". Charming scene and charming sketch!

  6. Sooo lovely! Brings back childhood memories. Now there are too many housing neighborhoods that don't allow this pleasure.
